Intermediate Advisers Training

The Intermediate Adviser Training is a 2.5 day training course for those wishing to advise and support smokers who wish to quit.
Course Content:-
Day one
Health Implications of smoking to include mortality and morbidity rates, demographic differences and tackling health inequalities.
Understanding of smokers and smoking.
How to raise the issue about smoking.
How to help smokers make lifestyle behaviour changes.
Interventions to enable smokers to quit.
Day two
Pharmacotherapy to help smokers with withdrawal symptoms.
Use of a CO monitor to validate interventions.
Action Planning on how to develop services for smokers.
Role of the Support to Stop Adviser.

Plus 1/2 day mandatory shadowing session in the Quit Stop Shop to be arranged at Day 2
